My priority is to help you find the solution that works best for you. By listening carefully and asking the right questions I work with you to create a tailored plan that addresses your needs. I genuinely care about people and use a variety of modalities, theoretical perspectives, and techniques to create a strong therapeutic relationship in a compassionate and nonjudgmental environment.

I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina in 2002 and a BA in Psychology from Erskine College in 1997. Since 1997, I have worked in a variety of behavioral health settings, including disability services, mental health, hospice, home health, long-term care facilities, and domestic violence intervention with perpetrators. I have been an independently licensed clinical social worker since 2007 but opened my private practice in 2011.

Though treatment is tailored to fit the client, I am most influenced by humanism and systems theory. While I am trained in and practice a wide variety of modalities, some of my favorites are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP), somatic experiencing, narrative exposure therapy (NET), internal family systems (IFS), and hypnotherapy. I am an Academy Certified Social Worker and a Certified Hypnotherapist with a focus on relaxation-based pain relief (RBPR) and trauma treatment.  I currently maintain memberships in the National Association of Social Workers and the National Guild of Hypnotists.

In my free time, I enjoy learning new things, working on the family farm, and spending quality time with my family and alone.

My focus and passion in this field have been working with clients that have been impacted by trauma experiences, and I am a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy Certified clinician through Project BEST.  I further pull from a variety of modalities and theoretical perspectives that have most influenced me related to CBT, Solution Focused, psychotherapy, art therapy, and play therapy.  My goal with you, the client, is to create an individualized plan to identify techniques and problem-solve to best meet you where you are and help identify areas we will work toward together in therapy.

I completed undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of South Carolina, graduating with a BA in Psychology in 2006, and my Master of Social Work degree in 2013.  I have worked with both individuals and groups in a variety of behavioral health and mental health settings, including in-home treatment, outpatient treatment, inpatient treatment, and long-term/residential treatment.  Through these work environments, I have also worked closely with individuals, families, and other agencies to help advocate for my clients within areas related to education, disability, and welfare.

I enjoy art of almost every type and enjoy engaging in art of almost every type as often as I can.  I prefer to spend my time outdoors when the weather allows, or at my art desk working on my latest venture.  I’ve also been told I often can be found with a seemingly never-ending cup of coffee or hot tea, and a small colony of pets around me when left to my own devices.  I like being busy, and almost certainly always have at least two projects going on in my life, both as a passion pursuit as well as an opportunity to learn and grow.
